Guiding Your Arthritis Diagnosis - A Single Aspiration for A More Informed Treatment Plan

According to one study nearly 3% of knee replacements in the US are revised within 5 years1, making the identification of patients with a higher risk of complication critical prior to knee replacement.

The Synovasure Relative Inflammatory Status Classification (RISC) Panel is the first of its kind laboratory test panel to aid in diagnosing arthritis conditions that may correspond to a relative level of inflammation and post-operative complication and infection risk in patients with knee pain and inflammation.* Testing is performed exclusively by Zimmer Biomet via its laboratory facility, CD Laboratories, a CLIA-certified clinical laboratory specializing in synovial fluid testing.

Synovasure RISC® Product Features and Benefits

Single Synovial Aspiration for Common Arthritis Types

The Synovasure RISC Panel utilizes a single synovial fluid specimen for assessing biomarkers associated with common arthritis types including:

  • Osteoarthritis (OA)
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
  • Crystalline Arthritis
  • Native Septic Arthritis (NSA)

First and Only Test for OA Diagnosis

Compared to existing tests designed for excluding OA from a diagnosis, the OA testing included in the Synovasure RISC Panel is designed to aid in the diagnosis and differentiation of isolated, idiopathic OA from Inflammatory OA.

Enhanced Results for Native Septic Arthritis

Specimens with elevated white blood cell (WBC) counts are reflexed to include Synovasure Alpha Defensin for NSA (alpha defensin and lactate), Synovasure Microbial Identification, and fluid culture to determine if elevated cell count is due to infection.
