Shoulder Implants and Technologies
You’re unique, and so is your individual anatomy. That’s why Zimmer Biomet shoulder implants and technologies are designed to help your surgeon find the right shape, size, and fit for your joint.
Not actual patients
At Zimmer Biomet, we’re never done innovating… for you. That’s why we created the Comprehensive Shoulder System. This system uses innovative technologies to allow your surgeon the intraoperative flexibility and options they need to address your anatomical needs.
It comes in stemless, micro, mini, standard, and revision length stem options, as well as Versa-Dial® variable offset humeral heads, which allow for proper anatomic reconstruction.
There are three different solutions offered in the Comprehensive Shoulder Family: Anatomic, Reverse and Stemless replacement options.

Comprehensive® Anatomic Shoulder System
Here is an example of how the Comprehensive Anatomic Total Shoulder fits together. You can see the stem down in the humerus, the ball is attached to the stem, and then a medical-grade plastic socket is implanted on the glenoid.
The ball portion of the implant then moves against the socket.
The Versa-Dial technology is also a powerful implant option that allows the surgeon to effectively balance the tissue in your shoulder to optimize range of motion as well as stability.

Comprehensive Reverse Shoulder System
Here is an example of how the Comprehensive Reverse Total Shoulder fits together. You can see the stem down in the humerus (like in the anatomic system), but with the reverse system, the socket is attached to the stem, and the ball is implanted on the glenoid.
Like with the anatomic system, the ball portion of the implant moves against the socket, it’s just “reversed” in regards to how the implants are put together in the anatomic system.

Comprehensive Nano Stemless Shoulder System
Here' s an example of how the Comprehensive Nano Stemless Shoulder works. This stemless solution is designed to preserve more of your humeral bone than traditional stemmed shoulder replacement.
The Nano solution offers more sizing options than any other stemless implant on the market. This allows the surgeon to match your individual anatomy.
Compared to the other two systems, you’ll notice that there’s no longer a stem down into the humeral bone. Instead, a component is implanted into the top of the humerus. That’s where this system gets its “stemless” name.
Like with the anatomic system, a ball fits into this humeral component, which then moves against a medical-grade plastic socket implanted in the glenoid. Nano is the only stemless implant on the market that uses the Versa-Dial technology. This helps surgeons balance the soft tissue in your shoulder.

Alliance Glenoid System
In 2020, Zimmer Biomet launched the most comprehensive glenoid component offering in the marketplace. The Alliance Glenoid System was specifically designed to have a breadth of sizes to better match your individual anatomy. Additionally, the Alliance Glenoid System was specifically designed to preserve your glenoid bone during anatomic shoulder replacement. This system allows your surgeon to also effectively manage associated bone loss that may be present in your shoulder. Alliance Glenoids include an augmented anatomic glenoid component in a half-wedge design that is designed to preserve bone, and provide implant stability.
