David Dvorak was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of the Company in May 2007. He championed Zimmer’s acquisition of Biomet, positioning the combined Zimmer Biomet as a global leader in musculoskeletal healthcare.
Prior to his appointment as President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Dvorak served as Group President, Global Businesses and Chief Legal Officer from December 2005. From October 2003 to December 2005, he served as Executive Vice President, Corporate Services, Chief Counsel and Secretary, as well as Chief Compliance Officer. Mr. Dvorak joined the Company (then Zimmer) as Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and General Counsel in December 2001, shortly following the Company’s spin-off from Bristol-Myers Squibb. Before joining Zimmer, he served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of STERIS Corporation. Earlier in his career, he practiced corporate law, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and on securities law. Mr. Dvorak currently serves as a member of the board of directors of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), and previously served as the chairman of the board of AdvaMed. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance) from Miami University (OH) and a J.D., magna cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif.
Robin Barney was appointed Senior Vice President, Global Operations and Logistics effective June 2015. She has direct responsibility for sourcing, distribution, real estate and global manufacturing.
Ms. Barney served as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Operations of Biomet from September 2008 to June 2015. Prior to joining Biomet in 2007, she served as Vice President, Worldwide Operations of DePuy, a Johnson & Johnson company. She joined Johnson & Johnson in 1992 and held various leadership roles within Operations for the company’s Codman & Shurtleff, DePuy Orthopaedics and DePuy Spine units. Ms. Barney began her career at Procter & Gamble in personal products, soap and detergent, working in both Research and Development and Operations. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts.
Audrey Beckman was appointed Senior Vice President, Strategic Quality Initiatives in January 2014. She has direct responsibility for leading the Company’s strategic initiatives related to Quality Excellence.
Ms. Beckman joined the Company (then Zimmer) in 1987 as a Project Engineer in Knee Product Development, developing products for the MG II® Total Knee System and the NexGen® Complete Knee Solution prior to leading the Company’s global Product Development function from 2002 to 2007. Ms. Beckman has since held positions of increasing responsibility, including serving as Senior Vice President, Global Zimmer Institute, Accelero and Market Access. She has more than 25 years of medical device experience in a variety of disciplines, including strategic marketing and general management. Ms. Beckman holds multiple patents on orthopaedic devices. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Ball State University.
ony Collins was appointed Vice President, Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer effective June 2015. He has responsibility for internal and external reporting, planning and analysis, and corporate and business unit accounting.
Previously, Mr. Collins served as Vice President, Finance for Zimmer’s Global Reconstructive Division and Global Operations organization. He joined Zimmer in 2010 as Vice President, Finance for the Global Reconstructive Division and U.S. Commercial organization. Prior to joining Zimmer, Mr. Collins held the position of Vice President, Finance and served as the CFO of the Commercial segment of Oshkosh Corporation from 2007 to 2010. From 1997 to 2007, he was employed at Guidant Corporation and Boston Scientific, where he held a number of positions of increasing responsibility, including Finance Director and CFO of the Guidant Japan organization, Global Director of Operations Finance and Director of Strategic Planning. Mr. Collins began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Miami University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
Derek Davis was appointed Vice President, Global Integration effective June 2015. He has direct responsibility for the oversight and management of integration activities following the merger of Zimmer and Biomet.
Mr. Davis served as Vice President, Finance and Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer of the Company from May 2007 until June 2015. He joined the Company (then Zimmer) in 2003, and has held positions of increasing responsibility since that time, including Director of Operations Finance and Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and Corporate Accounting. Prior to joining Zimmer, Mr. Davis served as Vice President, Finance and Corporate Controller for International Wire and as Senior Financial Analyst for Phelps Dodge Corporation. He has more than 15 years of experience in corporate finance, accounting, planning and analysis, cost accounting and operations management. Mr. Davis holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and an MBA from Indiana University and is a CPA.
Bill Fisher was appointed Senior Vice President, Global Human Resources in July 2009.
Mr. Fisher has extensive global leadership experience in human resources, including 15 years in increasingly responsible roles within General Electric. Prior to joining the Company (then Zimmer) in 2009, Mr. Fisher served as Vice President of Human Resources for ArvinMeritor in Detroit, Michigan, where he was responsible for all human resources for that company's global Light Vehicle Systems business. At General Electric, Mr. Fisher served as Senior Corporate Human Resources Executive for the Legal, EHS and Strategy functions at the company's Connecticut headquarters; Senior Human Resources Leader for GE Healthcare's Global Supply Chain in Wisconsin; and Senior Director of Human Resources for GE Plastics, located in Indiana. Mr. Fisher holds a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University, a Master of Science in Organization Development from Eastern Michigan University and an MBA in Human Resources from Indiana University.
Dan Florin was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer effective June 2015.
Mr. Florin served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Biomet from June 2007 to June 2015. Prior to joining Biomet, Mr. Florin served as Vice President and Corporate Controller of Boston Scientific Corporation from 2001 until 2007. Before being appointed Corporate Controller in 2001, Mr. Florin served in financial leadership positions within Boston Scientific Corporation and its various business units. Prior to joining Boston Scientific Corporation, Mr. Florin worked for C.R. Bard from October 1990 through June 1995, and was employed by Deloitte from September 1986 to October 1990. Mr. Florin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame and an Executive MBA from Boston University.
Adam Johnson was appointed Group President with responsibility for the Company’s Spine, Bone Healing, Dental, Craniomaxillofacial and Thoracic businesses effective June 2015.
Mr. Johnson served as Senior Vice President, Biomet, and President, Biomet Microfixation, Bone Healing and Spine from June 2012 to June 2015. Before that, he served as President, Biomet Microfixation from 2007 to 2012 and Vice President, Global Marketing, Biomet Microfixation from 2006 to 2007. Prior to that, Mr. Johnson served as Director of Global Marketing for Regeneration Technologies, Inc. (now known as RTI Surgical, Inc.). He also worked for Biomet for five years previously, starting his career with Biomet in 1999. Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and an MBA from Jacksonville University.
Stuart Kleopfer was appointed President, Americas effective June 2015. He is responsible for the Company’s sales and management of the direct and indirect sales channels in the Americas region, including the United States, Canada and Latin America.
Mr. Kleopfer served as President, Biomet U.S. from May 2011 to June 2015. Before that, he served as President, Biomet Biologics from December 2005 to May 2011. Prior to those appointments, Mr. Kleopfer held numerous positions of increasing responsibility within Biomet, where he began his career in 1988. Mr. Kleopfer holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Indiana University.
David Kunz was appointed Vice President, Global Quality, Clinical and Regulatory Affairs in January 2015. He is responsible for providing strategic and operational direction to achieve Quality and Regulatory Excellence across the organization and he chairs the Company’s Quality Excellence Steering Committee.
Mr. Kunz joined the Company (then Zimmer) in 2011 as Vice President, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance for the Spine division. Prior to joining Zimmer, he served as Vice President, Quality Assurance of Ecolab, where he led a supply chain network including nine chemical plants and two equipment plants. Previously, he spent 13 years at Guidant/Boston Scientific Corporation in a variety of leadership positions, most recently as the Director of Supplier Quality Assurance for the CRV Division. He began his career at the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program Headquarters as a mechanical engineer. Mr. Kunz holds a Bachelor of Science and an MBA from the University of Minnesota. He is a certified Nuclear Engineer and previously was a certified Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer.
Katarzyna Mazur-Hofsaess was appointed President, Europe, Middle East and Africa in April 2013. She is responsible for the sales, marketing and distribution of products in the European, Middle Eastern and African (EMEA) regions.
Dr. Mazur-Hofsaess joined the Company (then Zimmer) in February 2010 as Senior Vice President, EMEA Sales and Marketing and was appointed President, EMEA Reconstructive in February 2012. She has more than 18 years’ experience within the pharmaceutical, diagnostics and medical device sectors. Prior to joining Zimmer, Dr. Mazur-Hofsaess served as Vice President, Diagnostics – Europe of Abbott Laboratories from 2001. She is a qualified Medical Doctor and also holds a Ph.D. from Gdansk Medical University in Poland, as well as an MBA from the Warsaw School of Economics and the University of Minnesota.
David Nolan was appointed Group President with responsibility for the Company’s Sports Medicine, Extremities, Trauma, Biologics, Surgical and Foot and Ankle businesses effective June 2015.
Mr. Nolan joined the Company (then Zimmer) in November 2012 as Senior Vice President, Sales. From January 2014 to June 2015, he served as Senior Vice President, Sales and Advanced Solutions. Prior to joining Zimmer, Mr. Nolan served as President, Biomet Sports Medicine, Extremities and Trauma from 2011 to 2012 and as President, Biomet Sports Medicine from 2001 to 2011. He joined Biomet in 1996. Prior to that, Mr. Nolan held marketing and sales leadership positions at Summit Medical Supplies. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wabash College.
Chad Phipps was appointed Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary in May 2007. He has global responsibility for the Company’s Legal Affairs and he serves as Secretary to the Board of Directors. Mr. Phipps also oversees the Company’s Government Affairs, Corporate Communication and Public Relations activities.
Mr. Phipps joined the Company (then Zimmer) in September 2003. Prior to joining Zimmer, he served as Vice President and General Counsel of L&N Sales and Marketing, Inc. in Pennsylvania and he practiced law with the firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in Philadelphia, focusing on corporate and securities law, mergers and acquisitions and financial transactions. Mr. Phipps holds a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Rollins College and a J.D. from Villanova University School of Law.
Dan Williamson was appointed Group President with responsibility for the Company’s Knee, Hip, Bone Cement, Patient-Matched Implants and Personalized Solutions businesses effective June 2015.
Mr. Williamson served as Senior Vice President, Biomet and President, Global Reconstructive Joints from February 2014 to June 2015. Prior to that, Mr. Williamson served as Vice President and General Manager, Global Bone Cement and Biomaterials Research from September 2011 to February 2014, and as Corporate Vice President, Global Biologics and Biomaterials from May 2006 to September 2011. Mr. Williamson previously served as Vice President, Business Development from December 2003 to May 2006. He began his career with Biomet in 1990 as a Product Development Engineer and has held various other positions of increasing responsibility in Product Development, Marketing and Business Development. Mr. Williamson holds a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from Syracuse University and a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Kentucky.
Sang Yi was appointed President, Asia Pacific effective June 2015. He is responsible for the sales, marketing and distribution of products in the Asia Pacific region.
Mr. Yi joined the Company (then Zimmer) in March 2013 as Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific. Before joining Zimmer, he served as Vice President and General Manager of St. Jude Medical for Asia Pacific and Australia from 2005 to 2013. Prior to that, Mr. Yi held several leadership positions over a ten-year period with Boston Scientific Corporation, ultimately serving as Vice President for North Asia. Mr. Yi holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida.
